Music For Adi Da Samraj

Adi Da Samraj is a world-renowned spiritual teacher, author, and artist, and the founder of the Spiritual Way of Adidam, which has transformed the lives of thousands of people.

Adi Da's principal literary work is a trilogy entitled The Orpheum, comprised of three volumes: The Mummery Book, The Scapegoat Book, and The Happenine Book. About The Mummery Book, author Robert Boldman writes: "If Dylan Thomas and Buddha shared a soul, The Mummery Book is what I would expect from such a joining. The Mummery Book is a vortex which, if you will permit it, will enliven, awaken, and rejuvenate the soul not only of this mortal life, but the soul of every existence possible. The Mummery Book is lucid, wild, an unraveling portrait of ego-life and a radiant vision of transcendence, which pass each other on the heart's walk across the pages of this luminous book."

Each of the three books in The Orpheum has also been presented in theatrical form. Adi Da Samraj invited Chris to write the music and direct the musical production for the 1995 theatrical production of The Mummery Book, which took place in Fiji. The production was four hours long, and Chris sang and played keyboards for much of that time, assisted by other musicians and a male choir. The following excerpts are from a tape Chris created for helping the members of the male choir learn their parts.
