PLAYLISTS / ALBUMS

MAIN PLAYLISTS

Each of these playlists has its section of the website, with much more about each song, snd about my cover of that song.

SONGS FROM THE GREAT AMERICAN SONGBOOK
(1930's - 1950's)

This playlist includes my favorites from the canon of the most important and influential American popular songs and jazz standards from the 1920's to the 1950's that have stood the test of time in their life and legacy.

GREAT SONGS FROM THE 1950'S TO THE 1980'S
Most recently (starting in April, 2023), I've been doing covers of favorite songs from the 1950's to the 1990's. I've only just started, so the playlist of my covers is likely to get much larger over time!

GREAT SONGS FROM THE 1990'S TO THE PRESENT
While most of my covers are of songs from before the 1990's, I have done some from 1990 onward, and will be doing more over time.

HEART SONGS (SONGS BY CHRIS TONG)
This playlist includes some of the songs I've written over the years, from 1975 to the present. I never released any of the songs when I wrote them. So it has only been recently — from 2020 to the present — that I've begun arranging and releasing recordings of these songs. This page includes an album I released in 2021, Heart Songs, which contains 7 of my songs. The other 8 songs I've released (so far) are also listed on this page.

SECONDARY PLAYLISTS

Here are additional playlists that also have their own section of the website, with much more about each song, snd about my cover of that song.

THE BEATLES
My all-time favorite group. Here's a playlist with the Beatles songs I've sung so far. I'll be adding (perhaps many) more over time.

HOLIDAY MUSIC
I love holiday music! Here's a playlist with a few of the holiday songs I've sung. I'll probably add some more each holiday season!

OTHER PLAYLISTS

These are just interesting playlists. They do not have their own section of the website.

CHRIS TONG'S PERSONAL FAVORITES. I've been singing many songs over the last few years — all of which I find beautiful. I’ve put together the following sampler of my "20 personal favorites", that gives a feeling for the very wide variety of songs and singing styles I’ve been exploring — from the semi-operatic (The Sound of Music), to pop/rock duets (The Time of My Life), to Latin (Sway), to R&B (On the Wings of Love), to songs with great harmonies (Who Loves You and Scarborough Fair), to K-pop (APT), to songs from the Great American Songbook (The Way You Look Tonight and Once Upon a Time), to Christmas songs (Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!), to the Beatles (I Want To Hold Your Hand), to songs from a wide range of artists, including the Bee Gees (How Deep Is Your Love), Huey Lewis (The Power of Love), Jim Croce (I‘ll Have To Say I Love You In A Song), Neil Diamond (Play Me), Bruno Mars (Just The Way You Are and APT.), the Bay City Rollers (I Only Want to Be With You), Richard Marx (Right Here Waiting), Petula Clark (My Love), Fred Astaire (The Way You Look Tonight), and Tony Bennett (I Left My Heart in San Francisco).

For an amusing way of seeing just how diverse these songs/singing styles are, I've listed the songs with the singers who made them famous below. So here's the humorous exercise: pick a singer's name in the left column, and try to imagine them singing particular songs in the second column! (I'll start you off. . . Julie Andrews singing The Power of Love, Jim Croce singing Sway, Huey Lewis singing The Sound of Music, etc.)

1. Dean Martin / Michael Bublé Sway
2. The Bee Gees How Deep Is Your Love
3. Bill Medley (Righteous Brothers) & Jennifer Warnes The Time of My Life (duet)
